TV Service Menus

I've got a scabby old 4:3 CRT I've kept around for retro gaming and want to adjust the geometry on it. It's always cut a tiny bit of the left hand side out of the picture but on my modded Mega Drive running through RGB SCART in particular it's cropping into the game area and is so far over to the left I can see the overscan area on the right hand side - not pretty.

Unfortunately the only sites I can find with service menus are all in Russian / Cyrillic alphabet for some reason

If anyone knows a website with a database of service menus I'd be most grateful. Just in case it helps, the TV in question is an Alba one, and as far as I can tell from the back the model number is CTV 5165 SIL bought it from Littlewoods about four or five years ago.

If anyone wants access to the service menu of the Samsung LE40F71B, here it is: Power Off -> Info -> Menu -> Mute -> Power On.

Now you can turn off the dreadful 'dynamic dimming', that Samsung call a 'feature'.

Don't mess with things you're unsure of though.

Try Googling 'alba tv service menu'.

I did, that's how I came across all those sites in Russian.

To access the service menu, mute the tv so it says sound muted
then Hold in the mute button and press the Menu button on the side of the TV.

Funnily enough I've had do some internet searches today for the 21" Sony TV that I was able to pick up today after winning it on eBay last weekend. Suffice to say I am very happy with the results.

Anyhow during my search I downloaded a pdf which provides the chassis details of hundreds of TV sets, I found this information became more relevant than the model number when getting search results.

I had a look back in the pdf for your set and it says that the chassis is a Beko 12.7.

Might be worth trying the Beko service mode route which according a quick search should be;

Service Mode Simultaneous press P+ & P- on local panel and
then power on with main switch.

Hmm. The only buttons on the TV (which I guess is what local panel means) are a + and - for the volume, and a P which makes those buttons change the station instead of volume. If you switch the TV on with the button it always goes to standby though even with all the buttons / + and - pressed.

Found reference to pressing menu + 9301 for a set with a Beko 12.7 chassis, it isn't clear whether it is all the numbers at once or in sequence as it's a Polish site.

Maybe in sequence as another reference again in Polish was menu + 8500.

Searching for these codes isn't as straight forward as I would have hoped.

I userd the service menu on my old Toshiba CRT and it sorted it right out. Warning though, you can do some real damage and if its anything like the menu i used it had no english text so it was all guess work and trial and error.
