I've got about 40 feet of high quality video cable (Belden 1522a, fact fans!) that I want to use for a one-way RGB scart cable.
It's got RGB, composite, a spare wire that I plan on using for RGB switching and a wire for ground. Audio is not required.
I had a aborted attempt on Saturday night to put one end together, but that was thwarted by wire breaks as I'm trying to use the shielding of each wire for the corresponding ground pin on the scart block. Googling a bit, I've found that some people don't bother with the grounds except for the RGB switch and the shield ground, the latter being Pin 21 (which is the metal hood part that contains the pins).
Is this advisable? Won't I get interference or signal degradation if the RGB lines aren't grounded?
The only reason I ask is to make the soldering and construction easier as its hard to separate the shielding well enough to make a convincing "wire", good enough and long enough for soldering.
Advice, please!
