Xbox Arcade Stick recommendation(s)

Hi,

Can anyone recommend me a good quality Xbox arcade stick? I use a Magic with Tekken stick at the moment which is ok. but configuring them with Mame and so on is a pain, whilst only having 6 buttons is a drawback. If anyone has a decent one could you let me know your thoughts, and how well it works on things like Mame etc. Thanks.

The only decent one is the Hori Xbox stick. Quite hard to find though and weighs a ton.

There's the HORI one, or you could use a Saturn HORI stick with the MagicBox. Works perfectly and you have 8 buttons to play with.

They sometimes crop up on ebay, or you might be able to get Allan to get you one.

I have the Hori Fighting Stick EX on XBox.

Just as good as the SC2 sticks I have for my PS2 and GC except that it looks damn ugly.

If you're after a quality stick with more buttons, the Ascii FT2 (8 on face) is a good piece of kit. I dunno about magic box compatibility though.

i've been looking for a fighting stick for my xbox since i got capcom vs snk on it. Also would come in handy for mame when i get my xbox chipped.

When I saw the X-arcade stick, it was love at first sight...

...didn't have the chance to try it out though, but it's got good reviews on the net. There's even a dual version if you often play against human opponents! You can read more about it here if you don't already know it... it's not cheap though...

If anyone has ever played with this stick, I'd love to read your impressions, because at the moment I'm a bit put off by the price

I owned an X-Arcade.

It's utter ****. The stick is too heavy, it's not a ball, the stick is too far away from the buttons, the buttons are in striaght lines, the two players are too close together and also the Xbox adapters don't work properly yet.

The X-Arcade is a piece of ****. The stick is horrid, the buttons are aligned so badly, and the material is disgusting. Don't buy one. Ever. The only people who do are the bunch of stupid Americans who grew up on that style of stick and wouldn't recognise quality if it came up and humped them.

I have the Hori Fighting Stick EX and it's lush, Microswitched Clicky Goodness?. Perfect for Final Burn X and MAME.

Second only to my DC Arcade Stick.

Damn, that's some nasty comments about the X-arcade! I'm glad I asked though. Thanks for the info, and for preventing me to throw away 250?!! Might as well get an Xbox with that money... and a Hori stick to boot, as it seems the consensus here is that Hori sticks are among the best...
