    Sony PS2 SCPH-50000

    I am thinking of getting one in 5/6 weeks time

    Can anyone tell me what do they think of it.

    Can you buy them in other colours apart from Midnight blue.

    Is Hard Disk necessary as I want it for GT4, VF4 Evolution, Winning 11 and shooters.

    What is the price in Japan ?

    (I plan to get Toshiba TV (with NTSC/PAL Progressive scan) in November.

    Any good place to buy them apart from Yesaisa/playasia

    Yes. It's the quietest fan-cooled console on the market, has a few extra setup options, but is basically the same old console unless you want to take advantage of the DVD functions. You'd be needing Japanese DVd's for that.

    Yes. It's available in black without the BB/HDD combo.

    Is Hard Disk necessary as I want it for GT4, VF4 Evolution, Winning 11 and shooters.
    Not neccessary unless you want Final Fantasy XI really. You only get it bundled with the midnight blue BB pack.

    ?132 for the standard
    ?184 for the BB pack

    Not really, unless you want to pay a lot. Yesasia was the cheapest I found and bought from them. ?230 for the BB pack including delivery and no customs charges. Arrived in about a week too.
