    Im sure this work too, but I have never tried it this way because they always say in consoles instruction manuals that the controllers are 'initialised' when the console is first turned on, and if you knock or press buttons/sticks you can make the console misinterpret what the 'normal' positions are for these button/sticks.
    Its not permanent or anything (If you turn the console off and on again it will re-initialise them) but thats why I usually wait until its turned on before pressing anything.
    Personal preferance I guess!

      With Ninty consoles (certainly GC) you only need to worry about the analog sticks or triggers. With digital buttons, such as the GC face buttons it doesn't matter if they're held down.

      If you were holding down the analog sticks, the centre position would be be incorrectly measured, leading you character to walk in the wrong direction, for example. If you wanted to reset the centre position on the GC without reseting, hold down X+Y and press start.

        been playing pso ep1+2 online but i accidently selected 50hz and now when i boot it up i dont get the option to select 50 or 60hz ? do i need to press b after the gc logo?

          The question comes up after the game has started to boot, so yes – after the GC logo.
