Possible to stop the annoying 'bleep' on 360??? - Coming from HDD

Howdy y'all,
Wondered if there is anyway to stop the frequent 'bleeping' that the 360 makes when reading anything from DVD or memory stick? e.g. if you play a WMV or something similar every 20 seconds seems to let out a low bleep. I have gone through the menus but can find nothing.

Mine has never done this. I've run DivX/Xvid files from a USB stick before now.

Eh? Really!? If I run wmv's off a DVD disc the unit blips every 20-30 seconds. It's the blip that sounds when the unit starts up it's done it from day one. It's an elite unit if that makes any difference? It doesn't do it in games, photos, mp3s just on wmvs on disc...hmmm..thought everyone's did this!?

Edit: Ok just counted the space between blips it seems to randomize between nine seconds and forty seconds. It's not amazingly loud just evident. It's coming from the unit itself rather than the T.V.

Update: Just taken off the Hard Disk and the bleeping has stopped! Is this some kind of HDD error? Should format it, clear cache?? Help!

If it did it from day one, it probably doesn't need the cache cleared. Sounds like a fault with the HD - take it back and get another one.

sounds to me ('scuse the pun) like the hdd is screeching which sounds a bit like a beep. i've heard it sometimes at work testing hard drives. some of the noises hard drives can make are quite freaky.

almost 100% definitely hardware fault. the problem with formatting it on the 360 is it's not a full format, just a quick one, so it won't do any good (of course, being a hardware issue, it'd keep coming back even if the formatting sorted it out for a little while)

Cheers mate, yeah just formatted and indeed it didn't do a thing. I'm off to take it back later in the week, luckily I used to work there so they'll replace it for me
