    NTSC 360 Return Qu

    Lo Ppl,

My 360 Elite is deciding to have hiccups and after a rrod t'other week it now just boots up and freezes with 10 - 60secs whatever I do which is tres annoying to say the least.

Anyway, I imported it from VG+ so just wondering if anyone else who's had to return an ntsc 360 due to problems, what did you do as I assume UK Xbox ppl won't touch it?

Am I looking at having to send it to the States...?

    Thanks in advance...

They fixed my first one when it went tits up with the RRoD but the second time they couldn't get me off the phone quick enough.

When I tried to point out to them that they'd repaired the last one I was told point blank (and in more than slightly caustic manner) that "Microsoft do not offer that type of service any more".

Might be worth seeing if you can get someone on here to repair it, a few people do them. dannywhac did mine after the last time - speedy turn around, cheap, and the unit has worked fine since - something like six months and counting.

Drop him a PM, he might be able to help?

I'd recommend you find someone reliable* to do the repair for you.

As Spatial101 says MS used to be pretty receptive to repairing ntsc consoles but there stance has changed pretty dramatically. They won't touch 'em now.

VG+ have helped members out in the past arranging to get MS to repair their consoles, but the cost of shipping the console to Canada via Courier is prohibitive.

(* Daragon & a couple of other members had bad experiences with GT Electronics)

Hey Len, got mine going again, applied new heat paste to the gpu and at the same time added the Talismoon fans. The difference in them and the oem ones is amazing, virtually silent, and supposedly pull 40% more heat out.

I also added a mesh grill above the gpu's heatsink. Doesn't look so clever but it's in a rack so not totally visible.

Is yours stuck on 3 red lights? Can you do an error code test?

(See below, lifted from x-box scene)

Turn the xbox 360 on, and wait till the 3 red lights are flashing.
Press and hold the sync up button (the small white one), while holding that button press the eject button.
The LEDs will now blink the first number in the code (as described below).
Release the eject button and press it again.
The LEDs will now blink the second number of the code.
Release the eject button and press it again.
The LEDs will now blink the third number of the code.
Release the eject button and press it again.
The LEDs will now blink the forth number of the code.
Release the eject button and press it again.
The LEDs will go back to the 3 red flashing lights.

Might help work out how to fix it, but will probably need x-clamp replacement, which will void your warranty.

            Your call really.

I can try and fix it if Danny doesn't show. He's the expert, i ask him when stuck
