The other day I paused this game for ~1 hour while I watched a TV show. Afterwards there was a blank screen. Ever since, in Metal Slug 1 (i haven't tried any of the other games in the set yet) the game freezes half-way through mission 1, always at the same point. The visuals are stuck on the screen and the same 5 seconds of music loops over. There doesn't appear to be anything wrong with the disc and i have tried deleting the save files. The game was working fine before I paused it that one time. Does anyone have any advise or ideas as to why the game is now freezing?

Does it freeze on other games as well or just the MS Anthology??
I was thinking perhaps the laser is fubard & wont go past the point it got stuck at for an hour??
Other than that I is at a loss too.

I did check it out with another game and that game froze on one of the company logo screens.
I have a black slimline PS2. Is there anything I can do or is the only option to replace it? I've never had a console break before (or that wasn't really easily fixable).Comment

I heard that the Slimlines have a faulty laser that is prone to burn-out(?) or something along the lines of that. I had a special chip installed to regulate the amount of power going to the laser so it prevents this sort of thing from happening.
You could also try getting one of those CD's with the brushes underneath try and clean the laser.Comment
