    Self-installing Freesat?

Just moved into a new property and the digital TV signal is sadly rather turd. However, there is a working SKY dish or two on the roof and after chatting with a couple of neighbours they are happy for me to use it for Freesat. After a couple of quotes looks like it will cost around ?200 for a professional install so wondering how easy it is to D.I.Y it?
I'm presuming all I would need is a suitable length of Satellite cable, an LNM and the socket for the wall indoors?
I've installed a couple of standard rooftop aerials before and just wondered if it was any trickier?
    cheers

If the dish is already aligned then it shouldn't be too much of a problem (provided you don't mis-align it installing a new LNB!) If not, you could always fit everything, and then call someone out to align and test the installation for you.

I replaced the lnb and ran a second cable from my dish last year. As ogf says as long as the dish is correctly aligned then it's not a difficult job.....if you've installed aerials before then I doubt you'll have any probs.

Are the dishes in use at the moment? It may be the case that there is a quad lnb already fitted with a spare feed you could use.....in which case all you'll really need is the cable, some f-connectors, some clips to run the cable along the side of the building, a wall plate and either some self-amalgamating tape or rubber boots (to avoid water getting at the connection between the cable & lnb). Probably a £20-30 spend depending on the length of your cable run.

If you need to drill through a wall then you'll also need a long drill bit (approx. 12 inches).

This site has some good faqs etc. and you can also buy all the bits you need (lnb's can be had for cheaper on ebay if your not fussed about what lorry they fell off!):

Cheers for the info. mate. It's a bit of a swine where I live as I'd rather a service similar to Virgin where I don't need to go up onto the incredibly high roof but cable doesn't supply my area yet and I hear services like Tiscali TV are pretty crud, so guess I'll have to get the old mountaineering gear out. Cheers.
