    mega cd

I've just come into possession of a mega CD (first version) that has no cables or anything but my friend assured me it works. I just wanted to post on what exactly i needed to buy to get it running. I don't have my mega drive with me at the moment, but i assume i just need an AC adapter? Is it the same as the mega drive one adapter, and what audio cables do i need to buy to get the thing up and running, cheers!

Yeah you need a Megadrive 1 AC adapter or similar spec.

With the audio you don't actually need anything, but a mixing cable is optional.

I got a Mega CD II unit and I still cannot work out why the Mega Drive 2 console uses the II adaptor, but the Mega CD unit uses a 1 Adaptor. Annoying to say the least.

Bu yeah two Power Paks and an RF cord (or what ever you use to connect the console to the TV) are needed to get the beast up and running.

Cheers guys, mixing cable? Will sound play from the mega cd without it?

The mixing cable is a simple 3.5mm jack cable going from the MD headphones socket to the back of the MegaCD. Obviously the cable that comes with the unit is short and flush so it doesn't look untidy, but any generic cable will do.

          One of these basically http://svp.co.uk/products-solo.php?p...lebase&id=5288

If you take the audio from the Megadrive (no mixing cable) I believe you will miss out on the Mega CD audio?

If you take the audio from the Mega CD (no mixing cable) you will miss out on the Megadrive audio..

So the mixing cable takes the audio from the Megadrive and mixes it with the audio from the Mega CD, then you take the audio from the Mega CD and it has both Megadrive and Mega CD audio in one.

              I think!

So unless you use a mixing cable I think there can be missing sound effects or music.
