    Psyvariar ???

Why are there so many versions, and what is the best one out of them?
    Kept you waiting, huh?

Not sure how many different versions there are but I've got Psyvariar: Complete Edition on the PS2 which contains Psyvariar Medium Unit & Psyvariar Revision which is a sort of remix of the first game.

I'd recommend the game and you seem to be able to get it fairly cheap over here but I'm not sure about prices for the Japanese version.

I've also got Homura which you mention playing in another thread which is fun.

If you'd consider lowering yourself, I have a German copy of Steel Dragon Ex which contains both Steel Dragon & Steel Dragon Evolution (Shienryu & Shienryu Explosion in Japan) which is in pretty crappy condition but free if you want to give it a try before buying the Japanese version?

The PAL release of the original contains the two Japanese releases - Medium Unit and Revision. Not sure if there's a JPN equivalent with both which I'm guessing would be your version of choice.

For the sequel the DC was out first under the subtitle "The Will to Fabricate" - PS2 got "Ultimate Final", and although I'm not sure about gameplay differences it did get a super-play DVD included. Pretty sure the Xbox got Ultimate Final too with some replay-type stuff on Live.

Must admit I preferred the bog-standard DC releases of both games, found the ship much easier to control/spin with the DC thumbstick also.

Both are great games to watch super-play(.co.uk) videos of.

There were 3 full-price editions of the game in Japan.

            Psyvariar: Complete Edition
Psyvariar: Complete Edition (Special Capture Box)
Psyvariar: Complete Edition (Special Sound Box)

These were all released at the same time in 2002 and the actual game content is identical in each version; namely, both editions of the game on one disc - the Arcade original "Psyvariar: Medium Unit", plus the later, and much better, "Revision" update, so it doesn't really matter which one you get.

The only real difference between the 3 versions is the colour of the boxart and the content of the 2nd disc in those special editions - either a Superplay DVD (Capture Box), or a soundtrack CD in the Sound Box edition.

The reason why there's a bit of confusion is because, at a later date, Success split this Complete Edition back into two seperate entities (Psyavriar: Medium Unit & Psyvariar: Revision) and released them under the "Superlite" budget label.

Thanx for t'info gang. Surely the most confusing game ever.

I'm awaiting "Ultimate Final" for JPN PS2 to arrive. I gather this is the newest, and most complete version? It comes with a Superplay DVD.

Ultimate Final is Psyvariar 2 - different game from those mentioned by Kubrick above.

Oh man, now I'm really confused.

If I get me a Psyvariar: Complete Edition to go with my Psyvariar 2: Ultimate Final I'll have covered all bases?

Yes you'd be covered then - that would give you Medium Unit, Revision & Psyvariar 2.

Game Focus ain't taking a hit on paypal fees or posting it to you though.

What kinda trades you got? I'm after decent PSP stuff at the moment.

Mind you, I could do with the cash.
