    PS3 questions

    Just a couple of questions.

First, how can I send audio and video to and from a PS3 and a PSP?

Secondly, is it possible to connect the PS3 to a wireless network that doesn't have a router? I don't have a land line connection and connect to the net on my laptop through a mobile broadband card. Would it be possible for the PS3 to somehow feed of my laptop and share the internet connection?

If you hook up the PSP to the PS3 with a USB lead it will show up as a removable drive on the PS3 XMB, then you can transfer files to and from the PSP.

Using a mobile broadband adaptor works fine as well, I have to use one of these as I live out in the sticks, not had any problems connecting this way to the PSN store

Aa, sorry I think I didn't make myself clear.. What I actually have connected to my laptop is a PC card that is a mobile broadband connection. What I would like to do, is somehow set my laptop as a wireless hotspot so that my PS3 can detect and connect.

Is there a way to use my laptop's WLAN to allow the PS3 to access the laptop's internet connection?

Of course, the easy way would be to buy a USB wireless adapter, but surely since my laptop has wireless built in shouldn't I be able to use this instead?

You might be able to, I tried doing that with my EEE pc and it picked up the WLAN but I couldn't get it to connect, I was using Ubuntu though so it might be different with windows, you might be able to put the WLAN into access point mode then it could work, in the end I did like you said and bought a USB wireless adapter.

Not sure how to do that. My internet connection isn't using the computer's WLAN. Somehow I need to bridge my current connection through the WLAN that isn't being used so that the PS3 can pick it up.

Haven't used windows on a regular basis for years so not quite sure how you'd do it either, other than making it into an access point with internet connection sharing enabled. I'm sure someone will be able to help though.

found this, might work if you have XP http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k69jPfpxosc

I googled "laptop access point" which brought up quite a few results as well

What was originally an idea to play my PS3 online is now turning into an absolute nightmare. I bought a wireless USB adapter, but it just won't connect to my internet at all.... I'm completely lost how to do this..

Can you change which channel your USB adapter uses? If so, change it to a different number to see if that makes any difference. What adapter do you have, and how is it set-up?

Well, to be honest, I don't know why I even need or bought the adapter, since my laptop already has built in Wifi which isn't in use.

To make clear as possible, I use a laptop. To connect to the internet, I use a service similar to 3G which connects to my computer's PC slot. Just like any other that you might see on the train when someone is using the net.

What I want to do is, somehow, share the internet which is being received through the 3G card, so that my other devices, namely a PS3 can find it just like a hotspot or access point.

I don't have a router, I don't have any home phone line connection. Just a laptop with a 3G card which allows me to use the net at broadband speeds on the go.

Does any of that make sense?

                        Yeah it makes sense.

So I take it you're connecting the wireless adapter to the laptop? Have you attempted to pair up the adapter with the 3G card. There are some other tips here - any help?

Thanks for the help guys, but I'm really struggling with this. There is a lot of information on the net about this but for some reason I can't get my laptop's WLAN to act as an access point. Seems there is no option to set it to do so. I even tried it on another laptop and the same problem. Also the 3G card doesn't seem to show up in the network page.

I bought a USB Wifi Adapter called AirStation Wireless G. I think this isn't what I should have bought, is this any different than what you have? Is it different than something called a Wifi MAX?
