    PS2 Blue LED not working

hi , i have a V7 PS2 and i took it apart this afternoon to clean the lens but when i put it back together i accidently caught the siler cable that connects from the DVD drive to the lid of the PS2 and now i have no Blue LED , the draw opens fine tho

How can i go about sorting this ?

    Thanks

I've never dismantled a PS2 before but I guess it's the same type of flat (paper thin) ribbon cable used in other devices. You'll need to check which line is broken with a multimeter, then solder over a new connection (with a bit of wire) for the one that doesn't give you a reading.
If you don't have a multimeter then you'll have to re-wire the whole connector.

I have a v7 that was damaged during modding. I can send the switch if you pay the postage.

Yeah, You can only disconnect the ribbon at the board end so it is attached to the switch.

Oh, on the v7 the cable is removable but I'll send the whole thing anyway

Are you sure the ribbon cable was damaged?

I asked because when I bought a flip-top case (for BTW a PS2 v.7 too) and tried to get the crappily made piece of tripe to fit I had a problem I put down to the case fouling the power button and/or eject button.

I still don't understand why I had power but no LEDs. I could still just about eject but the tray either immediately went back in or stuck fully out and could only be pushed back in.

Could a similar problem have happened when you were reassembling the PS2?

When I refitted the original case everything worked fine and has done so ever since.
