Using a UK 360 in Japan?

Hey all, I've just arrived in Japan and I brought my British 360 with me. However, I don't really want to just plug it in to the wall as I'm afraid I'll fry it. Anyone know how to run a UK 360 in Japan? Do I need an step-up/step-down convertor?

    Cheers!

US/JP PS3s are multivoltage, so I'd assume the UK version is aswell... just my thought, though.

That's all well and good, but he has a 360

What you should of done mate, although it's not that much use now, is put a wanted thread for a 110 power supply.

      Could of had mine.

You won't fry it though mate, as you will only be giving a 240v psu 110 volts.

See if local stores have a 110 psu is your best bet.

Ask the forum for Imported power supply as not many of us will need it.

Skye - as Nick says your best bet would be to pick up a Japanese 360 (110v) power 'brick' locally if you can. A PAL 360 will work with it quite happily.

Great, cheers for the replies guys! I was planning to buy a Japanese 360 anyway to play JP games so it's all good!

                Hmm... slight problem guys...

The Japanese 360 PSU doesn't seem to plug into the UK 360, due to a small piece of plastic in the middle. Any other options to use it over here in Japan?

Why not buy a small craft knife and just cut the bugger out?

I thought it was worth mentioning something else as well - certain content on the Marketplace is region locked by your IP rather than the machine so you may find you can't download certain things unless you create a new JAP profile to do it. Mostly you will be able to download the same items from the JAP marketplace if you create a JAP profile though.

Oh? I've been using my memory card to transport my profile and it let me download and play all my arcade games as long as I'm online. What kind of content do you mean?

Also, do you think that piece of plastic is as useless as it looks?

                    Cheers!

just cut the plastic piece out if there is no metals pins on it or anything like that

Yeah, it looks like it's just a bit of plastic to do exactly what it's doing - stopping you from using a foreign power brick. It's probably just so people don't go buying cheaper foreign ones in bulk and selling them abroad. Cut the bastard out!

Also, anything you've already downloaded should be fine. There's very little stuff that is region locked but you may find the odd thing, especially movies and trailers, gamerpic packs etc may not be downloadable from a Japanese IP.

WAIT! Don't cut that piece of plastic out - there might be a good reason for it!

Fahrenheit was explaining the other day that they put something like that into them in order to stop people using PSUs with different voltages (from different hardware generations, not region). Let me just search for it...

                            Sounds exactly like it.

                              Okay, so I've got:

                              - A British Premium 360
                              - A Japanese Elite 360

If I can't use the PSU from my Japanese 360 for my British 360 then what can I use? A Japanese Premium / Core 360's PSU?
