Only problem I have with Safari is that my version of 1Pass is incompatible with it and I'm not paying for the latest version (they've deliberately left out support to get me to upgrade I'm sure).

Ok I remembered why I stopped using Safari - it won't add www and .com to addresses using stuff like ctrl+enter like all the other browsers do. Anyone know if there's a way to do it through an addon, or if there's a key combo I haven't tried yet? I've tried all the permutations of shift, ctrl, alt and command.

Installed Steam yesterday as I've not touched it in ages and fancied a blast of HL2, see what it looks like on a Mac. Unfortunately I've no longer got access to the email address I used to set it up initially in what must have been 2004, when I ordered HL2 originally.
Logged the issue with Steam support, but the only way they will accept verification of my identity is if I can provide the full credit card number I used to buy Hl2 in 2004. So I think I'm snookered....

There must be something they can do? Have you not got a random old credit card statement from around that time? Probably a bit out there, but I wonder if your credit card company would have a log like that (assuming you are still with them)? Six years is a long time, though, and I doubt I have info on my credit cards from that long ago. Also, I'd try logging into any sites I've bought from in the past, as they sometimes hold on to old credit card details unless you actively delete them yourself. My Amazon account does this, and has the card I used in 2003 so maybe that's worth a shot?
I tried Portal and it's too jerky without dropping the graphics quite a bit. I might download HL2 just because I've nothing better to do this morning, but I'm really waiting for Counter Strike

Right then....bit of a weird one here. My 6 month old Macbook Pro has had a battery problem. I left the machine overnight to fully charge and this evening when I wanted to use it the MBP had gone to sleep and when woken up showed only 2% battery. When I plugged in the power supply it went straight to 99% and so far is working as normal.
Is there a problem I need to see Apple about?

Six months sounds a bit too early for dodgy battery symptoms but have you tried a full discharge/recharge? I assume it's six months old from new, so it's the newer unibody Macbook Pro with a non-removable battery? If that's the case, this is Apple's method to recalibrate the battery :
Run it off the battery until it automatically sleeps (at around 3% or so). Once it's done that, leave it turned off for about eight hours to completely drain the battery, then plug the charger in and let it charge to 100%. You can use it while it's charging, but just make sure you don't unplug it before it reaches 100%.

Thanks for the advice.

I'm wondering if anyone could tell me what cable I should be looking for. The screen on my Mac laptop no longer works, so bought a monitor to hook it up to. Cable that Apple supplied is DVI M/VGA F which won't work.
I checked and need a M/M cable, but can't find an 18 pin DVI cable with the 15 pin VGA connection. Does it even exist, or do the pins on a DVI M make no difference?

I don't see why not, as long as the DVI socket on the Powerbooks has the cross with the four holes (as on the picture), which are the holes for the VGA signal.
Although, you already have a cable, don't you? I'm assuming the ends of your cable look like this:
Specifically, does the VGA end of the cable look like the bottom picture? If so, you could just buy a VGA gender changer which will give you the gender type you need.
