    Panasonic Q

I have purchased one of these with a Gameboy player which fits underneath.
Having major problems getting the Gameboy player to work, says 'The Disc can not be read'.
    Help anyone?

Any guidance on the Q would be appreciated.

i think the q has its own gameboy advance player.....you cant use one from an ordinary GC

Can you read Japanese and is the Q modded? My bet is if you can't read Japanese, yet the message is in English you've got in US mode.

Change it to Japanese mode as AFAIK the Q PLayer was only out in Japan; on my Q you hold the power button in for like 4 seconds to change mode, just press it once to keep it in whatever territory it's on.

        Thanks bowser, it works!!!

Do you know if you can save your gameboy games- does it save to the cartridge?

Saves go onto the cart so play can be continued on a DS, SP or whatever.

My Q or player? I don't have a Q Player, couldn't really justify the near £100 people wanted for them at the time?

My Q? Well the lens on the gaming has gone wonky. It loads, but you have to try 5 or so times and angle the disc. It's not bad, I played it extensively for years and most lasers wear out. Due to the cost of repair I just bought a £25 modded Cube about a year ago and the Q is for posterity. It's DVD lens works (it's literally two different drives) but the quality isn't great. Even with a modded RGB the DVD won't output in RGB, so I just use my standard, region free Philips player.

In retrospect, was it worth the £300 delivered years ago? Nah, not when a modded Cube and DVD player was like nearly 50% less even back then- but it looks cool as hell and I used it lots. I was also reckless with money back then, even though I couldn't afford it.

It should be nice if someone would have thought of implementing GBA booting code in a modchip. I used to play GBA a while on the Q, but I hate changing discs... or even GBA cartridges, so I put mine on a EZ flash cart.

BTW, anyone know what the port at the frontside of the GBA player is used for?
It is the same connection as a GBA...

Meh, so LAN for the GBA on two consoles and TVs? Kinda pointless, no? Unless one has a genuine GBA and the other hasn't....

                    Wireless on the cube LOL

Another question regarding the cube in general and connectivity (sorry for highjacking this thread, but now that we're on a roll anyway...): that cable which came with "FF: Chrystal Chronicles" and "Zelda: Seven Swords", it's only compatible with the GBA.

-Is there any way to connect the DS to the Cube? I opened the cable up to see if it would be easy to change the connector, but I don't think these are available as spare parts. Anyone know of a cable for the DS to connect to the Cube?

                    Was just wondering.

You can always use a Freeloader to boot the Gameboy Player in US mode
(that's what I do with my Q). Oh, come to think of it, eventually I bought an US boot disc! Like bowser123 said, it has been more posterity for me since I rarely used the Gameboy Player (some day I keep saying to myself ). The Q itself is still my main Gamecube and dvd-player in the bedroom (I must say dvd-mode in s-video looks fine on my Philips tv).

I have two tv's and cubes + gameboy players hooked up in the living room. Rarely used that either, but it's a nice gimmick XD

Lately I tried to use the Action Replay for the Q, but that didn't work. Anyone have experience with that?

I think someone was saying that the Q is infamous for not working with ARs.

Ah, ok, that's too bad. I thought I read another forum where someone claimed it worked. But it doesn't work for me, with the latest AR version, so that must say something I guess (unless it worked with an older version...)
                            Thanks for the info!
