Laptop problems

Hi, it seems I have a problem with the laptop I am using, I was playing resident evil 4 on PC when it first happened, all dark colours were suddenly wtriped with bright red, the problem went away for a while but came back upon a repeat play, I blamed the game, so plugged it into the tv to find the picture there was fine whilst the red persisted on the screen of the laptop.

Now a few days later after it went away, watching a tv episode through firefox it came back. Could it be the video card? & if so, why is it not showing on the TV, or could it be the laptop screen? either way its a cost I would rather not have at the moment!

Thanks for any input from anyone who can help. Video card is geforce go 7600 and the laptop is a 17" qosmio pg32.

I had a similar problem years back, luckily mine was repaired under warranty, the ribbon cable between the motherboard and screen had become damaged/ partially detached (god knows how), Samsung repaired it and been fine ever since.

Guess it works fine on the TV as the signal through the S-Video (or whatever output socket it has) doesn't go through the laptop screen.

I'm far from an expert so please don't stalk me if I'm wrong.

Probably worth googling to see if anyone else has had the same problem with that model.

thats great dave! I hope its something simple like that, a new screen for these is obscene

Oh and warranty is up a few months ago, such is my luck
