My new sony bravia has a lit/dead pixel

I've never had one before with a flat panel lcd tv. I just had this new tv and it appeared the other day, its only noticable when the screen is dark. Just wondering if i should really care as i will probably forget about it after awhile.

Just ignore it. You'll soon stop noticing it - I've had a stuck red pixel on my HDTV for years, and I never notice unless I get up really close and personal with the TV (and why I would do that I don't know).

It'll be under Sony's tolerance level for stuck/dead pixels anyway, so it's not like they'll replace your TV.

They might if you express enough anguish about it early enough, worth a try.

complaining gets you places. anyone who knows my current TV saga might be interested to know they are finally doing something about it, and thats 1.5yrs down the line.

Depending on how long you've had it, i.e under a week, you have a period of 7 days when you can apparently decide to take it back regardless. so phone up, whats the harm in trying? I had about 5 on mine and they indeed didn't do anything about it and said it was 'within spec' but at least I complained and found that out. I guess you can't really see it from a normal viewing distance anyway, but if you're like me, it'd just nark you regardless.

I think I have mild OCD.

A mate of mine had a similar prob on a LCD Panny.

If you stick it on an analoge channel thats not tuned to a channel you get that snowy type static. If you leave it displaying that for a few hours it may help.
I think he read about it on AVforums, and it cured his stuck pixel.
        Worth a try i guess.

I ran a stuck pixel video on mine via the PS3 all night, and went to bed, it got rid of a couple, but a few were still there sadly. oh well, such is life. I was more annoyed about the damn buzzing coming from it.

You don't really notice them anyway with TVs as you sit back. You will in your mind though, so it depends if you can live with it or not.

I've got a 'lit' pixel (bright white) on my LCD. Are they possible to shift? I always thought it was just the 'stuck' pixels you could get going again.

surely your lit pixel is actually stuck as white. hehe

run something like a stuck pixel fixer video on it overnight, it might help.

My father had a dead pixel bang in the middle of his 6 month old 50" sammy plasma appear.

It wasnt really bad but if you knew it was there you would look at it.

I phoned them up for him and just layed it on thick that sometimes you could turn the tv on and you would have 20-30 "little spots" and other times you would have just one.....

They came out and withing 5 days he had his tv back with a brand new panel installed!

phone them up and lay it on, dont say its one pixel says it more than 10 some days and say its just become unwatchable.

                  They should replace it.

I wouldnt be able to live with it, it would annoy the hell out of me.

                  good luck

It may not be honest but neither is flogging a TV where the very technology means that dead pixels are so common you have to live with them.

I had a few lit in the middle of a 32" panny so I complained and laid it on thick they said tough live with it. i said it was really bad so eventually they sent out an engineer who also then laid it on thick on my behalf and bobs your uncle I got a new one sorted. I just couldn't have lived with it, especially everytime the mood goes all spooky n dark you start to see if you can find it. how the heck can they say it doesn't affect performance, of course it does the pixels don't work and one of the reasons I bought it was because of the number of pixels!

Its like buying a Bentley with a scratch and them saying sorry it doesn't effect ride quality.

Anyway if they didn't want to have it laid on thick they shouldn't have lied to me and said it was awesome picture quality. Uness I am very much mistaken I think you will find that the old adage two wrongs make a right well covers this one

Exactly. I applaud stepp for his actions. I would and will do the same thing if a (touch wood it doesn't) similar thing happens to me.

I've never understood this whole dead pixels thing. If I pay a money for something I expect it to be perfect. It's mindbogglingly obvious surely!?

I agree. I've got a 32" Sony LCD and it had a dead pixel RIGHT in the middle. Generally it wasn't a massive problem as it was only a single one but I couldn't stop looking for it. Got a replacement TV no problem. I didn't realise this affected Plasmas as well, for some reason I just thought it was LCDs.
