New DS Lites and Flashcards

I've owned a Black DS Lite since Xmas '06. I also own a CycloDS Evolution Flashcard.

I'm thinking of trading in my current model and getting a Cobalt Blue/Black DS Lite as well as an EZFlash 3 in 1 Expansion Cart. But I've heard that the newer range of DS colours don't work with flashcards at all due to the DS Lite firmware being upgraded (as Nintendo have been known to do sporadically with the DS/DS Lite).

Can anybody here confirm this to be true?

My better half has a US Cobalt Blu/Black DS bought in April & my brother runs a US Red/Black DS bought at the same time & both work perfectly with the R4 Cards.

My Silver lite bought last November also works fine with the R4

I'd never heard of the new colours being incompatible with them though.
