PlayTV on ntsc console?

just a quickie - wondered if the PVR Pal PLAYTV thingy works on NTSC consoles or just PAL?

Yup I am using it with a Japanese 60GB PS3. No problems.

Do you know if the output switches to 50hz to match the TV signal?
Or does the NTSC PS3 force it to output at 60hz?

Easy way to tell: go to one of the news channels with a rolling ticker along the bottom, is the ticker smooth or juddery?
