    Dell Warranty Refund

I'm at my witts end trying to deal with these bunch of muppets. From paying for expensive memory that isn't 100% compatiable, to having them try to sell me a replacement battery for £185. What i want to know is, can i cancel my extended warranty and recieve any sort of refund, full or partial. I'm sick of being ripped off and would rather fix any future problems myself. It's a 3 year warranty that began in about May and was a wallet busting £125, ouch.

I intend on replacing the motherboard so i can install an ATI card i bought, which i imagine will void my warranty anyway.

You're unlikely to be able to just cancel an extended warranty that's past it's cooling off period. Worth trying it on to see if you can get a refund. Don't get angry with them, if you do, they'll go strictly by the book, if you act reasonable, they're more likely to go above and beyond.

Be warned that Dell PCs usually have very low power PSUs (minimum to run their systems stably). You may need to replace the PSU too (check it's rating when you open the case).

Ex Dell employee here. To be honest I doubt they will refund it, though if you off on one they will probably tell you where to go. Best bet is act very nicely and say that it will affect future purchases as you are involved in some kind of large order, maybe a purchaser for a company or such like, and this was your 'trial' unit. That puts the ****s up the managers. Let me know how you get on.

Thanks for the replies, if chances are slim to none, i think i'll just cut my losses and chalk it down to experience. The only reason i got the warranty was because i rely on it so much for Uni. It's too much hassle to deal with customer service and life's too short Thanks again guys.
