FreeSat HD Box Advice (for OLED tele)...

Bought one of these last week whilst in Tokyo:

And so to take advantage I need to finally sort out an HD feed for it.

So as there's no way I'm paying Sky or Virgin for it the logical route is to get a FreeSat box which tbh I've been considering for a while.

So has anyone/can anyone recommend the best box to buy as the one's on the FreeSat site are by some dodgy brands to say the least.

    Any/all advice much appreciated...

I take it that TV can accept a pal signal?

I've got a feeling that all the dodgy free view brands are made by the same company anyway

There's a Humax HD PVR arriving at the end of the year. Best wait till then. All the other boxes are decoders only.

You could buy something Freesat HD card for your PC for short term.

"Experience an unrivaled picture quality. Boasting a 960 x 540 native resolution, the OLED TV yields the same pixel density as a 40" (measured diagonally) 1080p LCD TV"

I don't know much about OLED, but that sounds like a bit of a play on words?

The HD receiver in Maplins is very well received. I think the model is Passion.
You're not really gonna benefit from a HD feed on a screen so small though TBH.

                  Cheers for the comments ppl.

It's 11' screen and is for the bedroom as the missus won't let me have another big tele in there...lol!. I've got the 46' lcd in the front room for proper gaming (and HD when I get the feed).

Was watching the gt5 prologue demo on it in Yodobashi and just looked stunning. Pic quality is incredible!

Doesn't accept PAL but doesn't need to as I have no plans to run a normal uhf signal through it. HD (via the hdmi) all the way...

I paid around 900squid for it, was my Tokyo treat shall we say (along with shedloads of other stuff).

Will take some pics and try and upload them later (it really is a lovely bit of kit).

p.s. Anyone else not getting email notification when ppl reply to yr threads/comments...? Mine seems to have stopped working but have got it switched on in my profile...

Not bad, it used to be closer to 2 grand, I've used a sony OLED laptop (13", £1600), and the top lid was so thin I'd bend it like card trying to open it, pretty damn sweet, but overpriced really. Ah well, all new technologies are hehe

And just to be sure, can I happily use this stepdown for my new Jpn toys...?

http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=19413 - I know it's a USA to UK adaptor but is the same for Jpn electronics as well isn't it?

A digital photo frame, digital photo printer and, most importantly the tele.

Basically they're not gonna blow up are they...? I'm sure it is ok as have had plenty of other ntsc machines in the past but need some reasurrance...lol!
