Can MS ban you for opening your 360?

    Hey,

I was just wondering, is opening the console yourself for repair or for changing the case for example a banable offense from Xbox Live? Is there any way they can tell if a console was opened by a user?

Or do they only ban if you put in a chip?

    Thanks.

Just opening the case won't do anything besides invalidate your warranty. If you don't have a warranty because it expired they'll still refuse to repair your machine even your own expense.

Be warned though, if you do actually tinker with anything they can detect (such as flashing your DVD firmware so you can play pirate games) then there's a chance you'll get banned from Live. They ban your gamercard as well as the machine, too, so buying a new machine would mean starting over with 0 Gs.

Since when did they start banning the gamercard too? I have a friend who was banned and they still use the same gamercard....

I'm sure I read people moaning in here before about not being able to log back into their old accounts after getting banned. I just laughed, naturally.

Maybe that was just legacy original Xbox accounts or something?

          Thanks.

Not at all. Mine has no inner metal case lid on it, a hole in the top, and no sides. A friend just has his in the lower internal case, no plastic outer case on it at all.

The only way guaranteed to keep it cool!

          Check this one!
