hd box pro how best to connect up ?

i have bought an hd box pro to allow me to play consoles on my pc monitor for 720p and now wonder how best to connect it all up

the monitor has dvi and vga connections

what i want to connect up is my pc and a 360 and ps3

i was thinking as the hd box pro has a vga in and component is to

    pc - dvi

360 - vga in on hd box pro

    ps3 - component

would this work ? also if i played bluray films on ps3 then i would need the dvi connection ?

    advice welcome

I use a HD BOX PRO on PS3, and Blu-Rays work fine.

I use PS2 and Wii on mine, component in, and I used my PC with it as well (switched between sources). I wouldn't recommend connecting anything to the VGA in though, it blurred the PC input slightly and there was also a slightly yellow flicker which was REALLY annoying. Also every time you switched to it, it set the resolution to 800x600.

thats a shame as i was hoping to run the 360 through vga and put ps3 on the component input. i'll just have to try it and see if i get the same as you have experienced

anyone used a gamecube on the hd box pro ?

Best to use the official lead where possible, if your monitor is LCD which I suspect it is. Your best bet is to use its naitive resolution whatever that maybe.

On the PS3, I use 720p. On the HD BOX PRO itself, I use 1280x1024 in a 1280x1024 VGA monitor. I'm using an official Sony cable (for PS2, but it's identical).

Can you actually change the refresh rate on the HD BOX PRO? I.e. forcing it to output 1920x1080 at 85Hz?

No you can't, but that would surely mess things up anyway, seeing as the input would be 60Hz. It doesn't actually have 1920x1080 anyway, it has 1920x1200 (the PC equivelent, but still a bizzare oversight).

with the hd box pro there is a remote control does a menu appear on the monitor and you can change settings on screen with it ?

also does anyone have some english instructions as i only have chinese ones in the box

Shozuki, monitor resolution is 1680x1050 so i will use that

thats all that was with it, start by familiarising the menus and such via the box itself, The remote needs to be pretty close to work anyway.

so you don't see any menu on the screen at all as how do you know what the settings are ?

going to set it up later today and see how it all works

You do get an on-screen menu. Remember there is also a button that can switch aspect ratio. This allows me to keep games in 16:9 on my 5:4 ratio screen, and you will need it to keep games at 16:9 on your 16:10 screen.

this made the box for me, it works a treat too. currently only have the wii hooked up with the box running at 1680x1050 and it looks great. being able to cycle through 4:3 and 16:9 with one button is really handy for cube games as well. it even tells you what your input resolution is when you switch ratios around.

^Yeah it's great. I'm in my uni dorm with a 1280x1024 monitor, and the normal Component->VGA transcoders were no good because they just stretch to full screen. I'm playing WipEout HD on here right now in proper aspect ratio, and I can even play 480i Cube games on my Wii like the RE games.

how do i switch it to the vga pass through as i have a 360 connected to the vga input and i cant get a picture on the monitor i have it set to 1680x1050 monitors default res and 16:9 and nothing

if i have to use component leads with this then that's fine as i'll go get some tomorrow

                              any ideas ?
