Transfering iTunes from old PC to new PC

My new PC is up and running now and i want to transfer my iTunes library from my old PC hdd. I've bought a 3.5 hdd USB caddy and have got my old PC hdd in it. I want to know how i go about transferring the data from my old hdd to my new one or can i just access it via USB (when i plug my iPod in) and it will automatically open from the caddy.

    Thanks!

Have you exported your library from your old itunes?

You need to do this first, it will export as a .xml file which you can them import into your new itunes. This will give itunes all the details of your library, including which drive to look for the music on.

Because your music would have been on your C drive (I assume), the easiest way to get itunes to see it would them be to copy the music yourself over to your new hdd. Once this is done itunes will be able to see the files - you need to ensure you use exactly the same path though, otherwise you might have some problems.

This is how I'd do it, but others may have a different way.

    Matt
