Which version of Soul Caliber 2?

Which version of SC2 have people found to be the easiest to play?

I've got an Xbox (original controllers - not S) and Gamecube, I'm not bothered about the extra characters, just want to know which is the easier pad to use.

I find it better with the GC controller (better than both the XBox Controller S and the DS2).

      Arcade Stick is best though.

Its really horrible to play with the original Xbox controller, if you get the GC or Xbox version do as everyone else suggested and get the arcade stick.

I've played both the Cube version and the X-Box version (S pad) and personally felt the Cube controller had the edge over the S controller.

I did notice though that certain characters' moves were easier to pull off on the X-Box pad though because of the button layout. As everybody has said, if you plan to put a lot of time into the game then its worth your while to have a decent arcade stick.

I'm going for the Gamecube version, mostly for Link.

I have a converter that allows me to use my Dual Shock 2 on the Gamecube. I did the same thing on my Dreamcast and found that the PlayStation pad design is pretty good for Soul Calibur.

I'll most likely invest in an arcade stick at some point though 8)

Between this and Virtua Fighter 4 Evo, I shall be dishing out much punishment in the upcoming weeks

The cheapy ones from Lik-Sang seem to work well enough from my experience... aparently GAME have them even cheaper, although I've not tried them.

phillai; Did you test the adapter with an official PS2 Dual Shock 2 or with a 3rd party pad or arcade stick? I bought the Cube Joybox but it didn't work with my ASCII FT2 pad, though the seller assured me that it worked with the official Dual Shock pads. Unfortunately I didn't have a PS2 when I bought it so I couldn't test it with a Dual Shock one.

On a Dutch gaming board I also read that someone could use his PS2 SCII Hori stick on is NGC with this adapter: http://www.play-asia.com/paos-13-70b8004c.html I haven't tested it myself though.

No, apparently they work fine for dual shock pads but if you wanna try using the Game ones with any dedicated Namco arcade stick, it refuses to work...

Derek is referring a different, newer GameCube adaptor that is supposed to work with ps2 arcade sticks, unlike the older ones.

Can't remember where I read about the arcade stick compatibility though.

OK, do let me know if you know which ones work...
                            I want one myself!

For GC Soul Calibur 2 JP I also used the Cube Joybox adapter that I ordered from Lik Sang. Worked fine with my PSOne Sony Dualshock pad.
