Can anyone with a japanese original DS or DS lite confirm whether you can toggle settings on the menu screen so it can be in English?
Im thinking of importing but not having the menu in English would be annoying

I haven't found a way to do it. The interface is more like the Wii than the earlier DS models.

According to HK based webshop ren-chi.com, you can't change it into English.

Indeed, the DSi is Japanese only. Probably another decision to try and stop people importing one.
