That LED from Maplin is weak.

I tried this before and ballsed it up but last night had a go on the 'spare' DC and did it fine. First off the LED should be 5mm (3 works but is small) and the colour off that LED is so weak it barely shows in the dark!!!!

There is a way of wiring in a 5v LED with a resistor off the 5v pin but it was trying that that led me to kill the light on my first controller port!

well im using the same led in the power on light and that works fine (nice and bright) but the modem led has stopped working altogether,i was thinking of putting a resitor on it but im not to sure how to do it

Am I doing something wrong then

I just straight swapped the standard orange LED for that 3mm clear blue one but the blue is tres dull (about half the brightness of the orange). Doesn't show at all in daylight.

I want it to shine bright like a PS2 blue light! Is yours as bright as the orange one trev1976?

              Any suggestions?

yeah id say it was as bright as my orange one and it looks real cool,i just straight swapped it and it worked fine, seems a bit strange your one is dull maybe you should try a new led.
if you take a look at my DC with the power on you can see the led lit up quite bright (and thats with the curtains wide open and using a **** camera)
