I've recently bought a fair few of the HK releases of some anime series' recently(much, much cheaper than R1/R2 and legal). They've all worked fine on my Xbox except disc 2 of Serial Experiments LAIN(it works fine in my PCs). On further inspection all the discs are DVD-9 except this one, which is DVD-5. Does the xbox not like DVD-5(Single-layered) HK discs?

Single layer HK DVDs work fine, but the XBox (well mine at least) is VERY picky about disc quality. I have loads of HK discs that refuse to even spin up in the Xbox, yet play perfectly in my normal DVD player. Coincidentally all the problem discs are cheapo HK DVDs. -
I'v had problems with HK DVDs sometimes not being read on my XBox, and yet the same discs will other times. DVD5 or 9 it seems to make no difference.
I've also encountered a fair amount of skipping on some of my HK DVDs. They just don't use quality discs and it's very annoying (especially during the final scene of Shaolin Soccer
