    Windows Live Messenger Beta

If anybody fancies the new spangly looking Messenger Beta
Learn what it means if you have an older version of Windows that's no longer supported.

I used that for a while and then went back to the one I had before. Emoticons and some other stuff weren't working properly

Ah that'd be the stupid WL installer thing causing that

So is this beta any good? Judging from the appearance on the webpage it just seems more garish...

The contacts list looks nicer but the layout of the chat window is a bit messy.
The Beta's of WLM have always varied quite significantly in the final version though.

There are some nice new features such as being able to choose a custom noise for when you come online in someone's list.

There is a little guide here about getting it to work in unsupported OS's. I can't actually get this to work, but if someone does manage to make that work, it would be great if they could post a modified executable.

Microsoft are intentionally blocking their own operating systems i.e XP64 and even Server 2008. If I didn't know any better, you'd think they're trying to tempt me to another operating system.
