Daft Question: Surround Sound on the Wii?

Do i need to put the audio cables into my amp, it doesn't look like the wii is capable of optical. Nothing on the console itself and the component cable i bought doesn't have it either.

The Wii doesn't have true surround sound. It does it using Pro Logic II, which 'matrixes' the sound as a 2.0 signal, and the amp attempts to create surround out of it using the 'flags' in the audio signal.
