    Green Tint on my LCD Monitor

    I received a new Samsung 24" Monitor yesterday. The image is very crisp and vibrant, but.. whatever I do with the colour temps and RGB settings, there is a greenish tinge to the screen.. It's noticeable mostly on peoples skin.

    I'm far from an expert at calibrating screens - so does anyone have any advice? ... Seeing a greenish hue to everything - is doing my head in.

    Whites aren't greenish - it's just mostly peoples faces.

    One thing I did notice - is that the 'WARM' setting looks greenish - instead of yellowy red; which is strange. I put it on cool - but that just dulls the screen - and the greenish tinge is still apparent.


    edit: I'm using DVI - but I also tried VGA.

    Maybe try installing some newer graphics cards drivers aand even see if the screen itself has a driver or colour profile you can download

      I'd say it's a factory defect. Contact Samsung support and ask to replace the monitor; if the warm color temperature has a greenish hue there's definitively something wrong with the panel; Dell had a similar problem with one of their 24" monitors but it steered toward red.

      BTW, which monitor is it? The 245T or one of the new 16:9 monitors?

        take it back get your money back and order the dell screen listed here. its now under 200quid!

          I plugged it into a different system - and it was still greenish.

          Yep, I think it's a defect. It's the Samsung 2443BW. Cost me 229, and it is very nice, except for the horrible green tinge.

            Weren't you going for a PVA/IPS panel some time ago? What made you go for a TN?

              I got a headache reading all the opinions on S-PVA & H-IPS screens. All the talk of wide colour gamuts making colours in windows look wrong etc... Also the input-lag - and other niggles.

              TN screens still have the same weaknesses - but they are better than they used to be. The Samsung I bought has a great image quality - but.. the green tinge spoils things.

              I'm now thinking of buying a Dell 24" S-PVA - though... that still has issues.

              I simply don't know what to go for?

                at less than 200 notes for the dell how can you go wrong...

                  However this problem should be covered by the warranty, I think it's much easier to get a replacement rather than a refound and Dell is using Samsung panel anyway.

                    I think I'll forget about the Samsung - and just get a refund. Now.. I need to find another screen. I won't be hasty.

                      BTW, I'll always go for a PVA or IPS panel, even for gaming: after using two S-PVA monitors I can say that 8ms aren't game breaking and their extended gamut just makes everything look more vivid - I use a Dell E248WFP at work and you can literally see colors change their hue as you move the head around...I'm not working anymore where color reproduction is critical but it's annoying to see it.

                        After extensive investigation - I've realised that PVA & IPS also have negative issues. It's not so much the input-lag, which isn't so bad now, but.. more to do with niggles. The Dell PVA are said to get very hot. The HP IPS is said to have problems with image uniformity.

                        I was even looking at a ?700 Lacie - which sounded great, until I read peoples reviews, and they said the same image on one side of the screen can look red on the other side, and there is nothing you can do to fix it.

                        I think I'll go with another TN; maybe the Dell. TN tech has been pushed to the limits - and is now ok. It's not stunning, but at least you know what to expect, and the price is attractive.

                        I really wish there was a screen that was great, but I haven't come across one.
