I believe it would be called a USB mini b to mini b cable?

    ?

of course I'm not suggesting you buy that expensive one, just checking thats the type you need, with the trapezium shaped connectors

It's actually for my brother in law to link his pda and sat nav thing together. It has to be a mini connector on both sides.

It looks like the one, a Nokia phone I have has a mini-USB connector on it, don't ebuyer sell 'em ? or can you get USB to mini-USB adaptors and whack one of them on each end of a standard USB lead ? not ideal but if you get stuck.

Maplin might be able help, but they're not exactly cheap for this sort of thing.

I'll be honest with you, i have never seen a Mini USB with the same connection on both ends and we have shedloads of devices in our office.
Are you sure the PDA connection is not a more squared version of the Mini USB. Mini USB A flares out at the the middle to trianglish points, where Mini USB B is a more squared off connection (like for a camera). Its a subtle difference but it is a different connection.

The reason for this is that USB provides an alternative source of power to devices. One end is for output and one for input of power, so i'm not sure you will get one with both end connections the same as if both ends were for power output, it could fry your PDA. I could be wrong, but i haven't seen one. If there is one, i would imagine it would have a power distributor box on the cable and will be fairly expensive. Similar to the USB to USB cables for connecting PC's if you don't have any network connections.

Also, if your PDA does have the Mini USB A terminal, then it will more than likely need a normal USB to USB Mini cable to connect it to a laptop or PC. Without seeing it i'm not sure you will be able to connect it to directly your phone. I'm not saying you can't, but i just don't think you can with the cable you need.

What Cables come with your phone?
