I've got a copy of Blast Dozer on my N64. Not speaking a word Japanese I don't know how to save my game. Does it require a memory pak? Where is the save option?

I just left the game by hitting B on the main menu choosing what I assume was "OK" from the pop up dialogue. It appears you can save one game on cart and up to around 5 on a memory card.
The reason I was worried was that I played a couple of levels a few days ago and it didn't save. Well at least it's working now.
If anyone has anything to say or warn me about when fumbling about on this game, prey do tell.
