Jasper 360 JPN models are about (Last Remant pack)

Just a heads up really as I know a load of us have been eager for some shump action since Raiden Aces came out.

Well today my dream came true and I finally got my hand on a JPN model when it arrived from HK. To my suprise opening it I instantly noticed on the back its the newer smaller power connector (Falcon revised smaller PSU) and checked back and its 175w. Wasnt until I checked the back and noticed the volt rail is 12.1 which according to the reports means itse definetly a Jasper (you can use 175w PSU fine with it and theirs plenty or reports of cores being shipped what are Jaspers with the older PSUs which everyone reckons is MS way of getting rid of old stock).

I know their about on cores easily enough but can 100% confirm now that The Last Remant Edition JPN 360 is also (mfc end of October 2008) which is basically a 60gig pro model with LR faceplate and the game and soundtrack.

So great news for the glut of shumps in new year

So yeah, finding an Xbox 360 Jasper in Arcade form isn't all that difficult these days, but we certainly haven't seen a glut of Pro models shipping out with the supposedly cooler, smoother and altogether more melancholy Jasper hardware within. A lucky soul over at PDAToday has acquired one such unit, and while he may just be incredibly fortunate, we'd say it's about time you to-be Pro owners start looking out for a few telltale signs. As you can see in the closeups in the read link, there here FDOU team Pro -- which was ordered from Amazon on December 22nd -- boasts a 12.1 amp rating and the unmistakable Jasper power port. Of note, it did come bundled with a Falcon revision (175-watt) power supply just like Ben Heck's Jasper Arcade, though we suspect Microsoft is just clearing out excess inventory given that the older PSU won't damage the Jasper machines. Any others out there run into any holiday luck? Let us know![Thanks, Bill]

Ive just installed mine anyway (Id actually bought a 120gig HDD cheap so my dad can have the one in the box and another HDMI full kit so dont have to keep switching with pal leads) and its definetly quieter than my Elite launch model (which was much quieter than the old cores) its very very quiet idle which will come in handy for Raiden not to be distracted.

What site did you get it from Daz, and how much?

Will be interesting to see if this revision finally resolves a lot of the reliability issues that have dogged the 360.

Am I right in saying that the Jasper's will eventually come bundled with a 150w psu?

Yea eventually they will be 150w PSU. About 99% of em are still bundled with 175w but their has been the odd report of em slipping one out.

I got mine from a friend Wavey he ordered it from some place in JPN then got buyers remorse when his kids wanted a Wii so I did a deal on my Wii for it as I never used it (picked a replacement up today easy enough lol).

You can pick em up at Play asia but Id assume if the LR packs are Jaspers the cores will be now (as the cores sell quicker and restocked everywhere) its just that its pretty unheard of until very recently that pro models are Jaspers.

I know Lee at VGI is getting some cores in and their a model up from this one so shouldnt be any issues at all

On a related note, I will be looking at getting a 360 in the new year, what points should I look for on the box to make sure I get a Jasper?

The method mentioned in Dazzyman's first link sounds like your best bet.

If the flap is shut another option would be to check the barcode sticker on the side of the box. If it says 150w (as opposed to 175w or 203w) then you know it'll be a Jasper.

The problem with the barcode method is that if MS are using up old PSU's then most Jaspers will show 175w on the sticker, so would be a lottery whether you got a Falcon or Jasper.

Cheers. Have the Jaspers reached the Elites yet, as that's the model I was planning to get?
