I think I did , along with a Taito airforce game.

I'll double check some of my old pics for you.

Yep, was a good few years ago but I still had one pic of the headset.

The only game I actually used them with was Taito's Energy Airforce, and If I remember correctly they worked quite well with the game.

It's a high-end motion tracking device for use with some JPN-only PS2 games. I want to get me one...

They released it over here without the motion tracking and PS2 compatability.

As Joe mentioned the headset tracked your moments, so basically in Energy Airforce you could look nearly 360 degrees around the cockpit. It was pretty cool, but the game was fairly average, and once the novelty wore off the headset never got much use other than willy waving to my mates. Shame the unit never got more support as it was a quality piece of kit.

Anyway, it was around 2003 I had the headset and if I remember I sold it on to museumsteve, I went through a lot of stuff back then so I can't be 100% sure though.Very slim chance Steve still might have it. I notice a while back he still visits these forums.

Did they retain support in the PAL version of EAF? How does it attach to the system - between the video connector?

                Cool stuff

Yeah, compo****e connector I think. Not sure if this acted as a bridge too, so you could have dual output , to the headset and to a display.

It runs composite or SVHS. Provided you use it with an official SCEI AV adapter you can have dual output (which is also switchable between the two) to the headset and the TV. Handy for not having to keep changing cables all the time. I'm not sure if you can use the unit's control block to do it simultaneously however. The motion tracking is via USB to the PS2 itself.

                      So cool!

Motion trackers are popular on the PC, but a bit of AC4 on the PS2 with this baby would have been a blast!

OK, so it's just the "Camera" but this would add massivly to consoles.

I was sure that this Christmas there would be an TrackIR announcement for consoles, its just a small update to transfer "Camera control" to the tracker.

                      I'll keep dreaming!

TBH it was a prohibitively expensive item considering it is compatible with literally a handful of games. Out of that handful, only a few of them are actual playable games (over tech demos or schoolgirl voyeur J-porn), and those playable titles are honestly not that fantastic. It comes from a time when Sony were unstoppable in Japan, and so could get away with such exuberance. Still it's pretty much the only thing PS2-related that I do not own and I'm determined to track one down.
