A couple of questions about getting a chipped PS2

Finally got a bit of luck last night when a friend of a friend agreed to buy my V3 flip-top lid PS2 for ?130 with a couple of games! Therefore I am now looking to get a chipped PS2 so I can at last play Suikoden 3. Trouble is, the reccomended retailers list on this site only seems to deal with games. I have been quoted ?140 for a V4 or 5 with a Messiah 2 and a controller by ps2solutions, or ?170 for a V7, both are as new, boxed etc. Is this reasonable, and is there a large difference in life expectancy between V4/5's and V7's? If anyone could reccommend other places to get a machine I would be keen to hear them.

best to go for a later model ps2 v7 or 8 etc as these last longer and have better lens in them
