This ok to run Mame, Cps1 and 2 plus zsnes etc?

    http://http://www.packardbell.co.uk/...0601-1239.html

This should be arriving in the post tomorrow, will it be alright running all the latest and greatest emulators? I've heard integrated gfx is a bit poor which has got me worried.

    Your advice please!

It'll be fine. Integrated GFX are generally crap for PC gaming, but emulation is different. I doubt MAME even uses any specific GPU functionality or offloads any emulation to the GPU, though maybe some of the 3D emulation titles do.

My cab runs on much lower spec than that and on the whole it's perfect

An original Xbox can run these emus so a recent PC should be fine.

Not tried MAME but I've got all of the others running on a Samsung NC10 netbook w/ integrated graphics.

As the guys say you should have no probs at all.

Thanks for confirming that guys, I was getting a bit worried as one guy I asked to burn loads of roms for me told me that intel integrated graphics was crap for Mame and just about good enough for snes/nes roms.

should I upgrade the ram to 3 or 4gig or will 2gig stand me in good stead?

2GB will be more than ample for MAME/Internet/Word etc etc.

TBH I tend to recommend 4gig with Vista. Just because it's Vista. But Dave is correct, 2gig should be fine.

Windows 7 looks much better for memory management

I was thinking of upgrading to 4gig but its only the 32bit version therefore would only recognise 3/3.5 gig. I need to crack it open and check if it comes with 1 stick of 2gig (unlikely) or 2 sticks of 1 gig.

Thanks everyone who replied, you have restored my faith in my new lappy.

If you're unsure about the memory you have in & what upgrade choices you have Crucial have a tool that might help:

Find compatible DRAM memory and SSD upgrades for your PC or Laptop with our Crucial Advisor tool or Crucial System Scanner.

Tiss true it my aspire one runs a heck of a lot faster with 7 instead of xp.
                    (1.5 gigs ram BTW)

Cool thing with a net book is playing schmups with the screen in tate mode.

I remember the good old days when we used to play track and field on my mates P90. Used to get like 10 fps if we were lucky. With no sound too.
