    Panasonic TV

I think the tube on my TV has gone. It's a Panasonic 32" CRT and when I turn it on all I get is the screen compressed to about 3mm horizontally. Can anybody help me? I have no money!

Err, sorry to say this, but I think you're stuffed - it sounds like the magnet that controls the electron beam has given up the ghost. If its not replaceable under guarantee then its shopping time.

You mean you get a frame collapse (horizontal line across the middle of the screen)? Could be just the frame chip that's gone. Best get it to your local TV repair guy.

I think it's the actual screen, just compressed to a thin line. If I smack it it gets slightly bigger for a split second then back to the thin line.

Get a free estimate from a local TV shop (they all do them). I had the same thing with a Sony Trinittron about two years ago and they fixed it for ?35 fully inclusive.

Actually I had to fix my brother's 29" Sony a couple of months ago which had a very similar problem, and it was just bad joints round the frame chip.

Yeah I know nuffink about electronics, so taking it to the shop might not be a bad idea. Cheers!
