    dell monitor for xbox...any ideas?

hello, a bit of help needed if you'd be so kind

my little bro is after a new monitor to use with his pc (vga) and also an xbox 360

Dell provides technology solutions, services & support. Buy Laptops, Touch Screen PCs, Desktops, Servers, Storage, Monitors, Gaming & Accessories

This is around the right kind of price and he wouldn't want any bigger than 23 inch. Widescreen also needed and this has an hdmi input which I guess is good for the 360. Response time is 2ms which, again, I assume will do the job.

Anyone got any other good recommendations for monitors? or indeed has one of these and uses for that very job!

    cheers

I think that if he can do 23", then 24" should be oK

This has a better resolution for games.

its a nice monitor for the price but its very high res so you need a very powerful graphics card to run PC games 1:1. Also all console out will have to be up-scaled by the monitor even 1080p this may result in a slightly blurry or quite soft picture.

This might be better plus its 16:9 aspect so no black borders top & bottom when playing console games but its 24".

Edit: as capcom suicide said just before me.

          No problem.

It also has a headphones socket that takes HDMI audio. This is really useful as it open up the option for cheap stereo speakers (Or Dell speakerbar option) or just headphones.

Without this you would need an Optical decoder.

Nice screen, read the user reviews on Dell.co.uk. 5/5

I just got the Dell monitor S2309W the other week. Pretty much identical to the 24' but slightly better specs in some regards - copes with higher resolutions (I'm using mine for my PC), Faster response time - 2ms instead of 5 and some other cosmetic stuff - USB hub built in, Webcam etc. quite a bit cheaper than the 24' too

            Lovely monitor

I only briefly tried my Xbox on it (through HDMI), and it looked fine from what I say. I've not extensively tested it though because I don't intend to use this monitor for the 360.

yeah thats the one I initially posted but it seems the 24 would be better suited to the xbox

Yeah I think you'd be right there. I didn't fully ready your initial post and just jumped in - I got mine primarily as a PC screen, where sounds like your bro is wanting it more for his 360 to a degree

Either way I've read loads of good reviews for the 24' and I'm very happy with my 23' so I don't think you can go wrong with either to be honest!
