Here's a weird one (Plasma issue)

I've got a panasonic plasma monitor. It's ace. Anyway, when playing through RGB (satellite / N64), I now get a the audio noise coming through in some bizarre cross-talk somewhere. Note that this plasma has NO SPEAKERS! It comes through as a kind of fuzzy scratching noise

It doesn't make the noise through any of the other inputs (no way for sound to get there I guess via component or vga).

Only thing left to try is removing the argos scart switcher from the equation in case.

I've no idea how long this has been going on, but I only noticed it recently. You can't hear it unless there the amp is on mute, but it can heard from the sofa just about.

    Anyone heard of this before?

It's still in warranty. Perhaps it's the scart board itself - if so, can get a new one of those pretty easily.

?? How odd! Where is the sound actually coming from. Can you tell?

Nope. Sounds like it's coming from the middle of the screen

Note: it's not the high pitched buzzing noise that you normally associate with plasmas (that's flat). This varies in pitch. You can tell when people are talking and stuff.

Haunted N64 ftw! R@RE!! Buy now.

          Very strange.

The only idea I've got is that I had a computer without speakers once, and I started getting quiet sounds out of it. It turned out that it was coming from the motherboard speaker - most computers have one of these for when it needs to make warning beeps or something - and it was somehow routing sound to that from its integrated sound card. It was a BIOS setting in the end.

Obviously you can't get into your TV's BIOS, but is there a setting somewhere to mute internal sound? Probably not, but a potential solution is better than none, right?

Its almost like its transfering the Sound into Image and making the picture destort in a strange crackle?!

Thats the best i can come up with! lol

Heheh, I figured it out. Partly thanks to you guys chatting about it - prompted a few things in my mind.... doesn't happen very often Especially Neko's "mute interal sound" bit. Ta

You can buy speakers to plug into it, so it must have a preamp of some sort.

When I installed it, I changed the remote to only affect the amp volume in normal operation. However, if you select the TV as a device on the logitech, it then starts doing the TV volume. It was maxed out. Must have been the kids pressing random buttons recently which maxed it. Once I'd turned it right down, problem solved.
