whats the best graphics card to put in a mac pro 1st gen?

i currently have a mac pro (1st gen) with a radeon 1900xt in it,
i have bootcamp running so i can play crysis etc on the vista 32 bit partition,
i would love to get this running with hi graphic settings rather than medium graphic settings that it defaults to at the moment.

    so.......
whats the best option for me?
i was looking at the radeon 3870HD or the GeForce 8800gt
i am also about to put an extra 4gb of ram in (6gb total)-will this help much?

    anyone been here,done this??

btw- i have leopard 10.5.6 on the mac partition if that makes a difference for drivers etc.

    thanks

I'm not familiar with the PSU they put in a Mac Pro, chances are it won't have much leeway for a graphics card which severely limits your options. Read that some people have successfully upgraded to a 8800gt though so it looks ok. May be worthwhile checking out the radeon 4830 which is a good budget card and performs better than those two.

As for the ram. If you're running vista 32bit, don't bother getting more than 4gb of ram. It can't address any more than that so it'd be wasted. You need vista 64bit to go any higher than that.
