    Monitor for Japanese PS3

So after purchasing a Japanese Ps3 i've set it up to find the tv at my uni house is to old to play it in colour. Anyway just wondering if this monitor; http://www.amazon.co.uk/Hanns-G-HW19.../ref=de_a_smtd would be able to play it through Hdmi-dvi cable? If not, can anyone suggest a moderately priced 19/20" monitor that i will be able to take back to Japan with me in July. Also how is it possible to get sound out of this connection? Sorry to sound like an idiot but this generation of consoles seems particularly complicated.

Yes, it will be. The video signal carried by DVI and HDMI is the same, both interfaces can deliver HDCP signals for encrypted media, but DVI has no audio stream. To get an audio signal out of it you can use the optical out to an external amp or probably you can connect the default composite lead an use the two audio RCAs instead.
I've used my PS3 with a HDMI-DVI cable plus optical and now HDMI-HDMI plus optical, never tried with analog audio connections.

Yeah you can do what briareos said, and HDMI + composite lead audio works fine, you just need to make sure you have it set up in the settings of the XMB

Cheers guys, found another monitor on amazon that looks quite decent but is it worth paying the extra £20? http://www.amazon.co.uk/Acer-P193WAD...2798386&sr=1-1

I'd say so, it's got a much better contrast ratio and seems to be a better make.
