    D-Terminal on non-JPN consoles

I was wondering if someone could confirm this...D-Terminal uses the same signal as RCA component cables but uses a VGA-like socket for connection.
So I was thinking to get a couple of those cables for the Wii and PS2, respectively an US and modded EU consoles to avoid dealing with switchers and adapters or combination of the two.
Since the signal is the same the consoles shouldn't really have problem dealing with D4 cables, right?

My understanding is that the cable is identical (both carry a progressive signal) and the only difference is the connector used.

As far as I know d-terminal connections are mainly found on Japanese tv's though. I don't think you could use a d-terminal lead on a monitor with vga inputs though (which is what I think you are asking?).

You'd have to have a monitor that can change the colour format from RGB to YPbPr if you're using the VGA port, I think. That's what I do, and I have a component cable > VGA adapter, so I would assume it'd be the same for you (d-terminal > VGA).

No, I wasn't clear enough on the "VGA-like" thing.
Soon I'll have an XRGB3 at home for video upscaling and it does not have component inputs, just D-Terminals (2 dedicated D4 inputs plus a third input with both VGA and D4 inputs that can be configured through firmware). The XRGB will output through DVI or VGA (I'll have to experiment a bit what config is the best) to my current monitor.

Right now I use the cheap Farmer 3-way component switch to connect a Wii, a PS2 and a third console (first X Box and PSP Lite; GC is ruled out as it's PAL), but I wanted to let the XRGB3 handle directly the two sources I use the most (Wii and PS2) on the dedicated D4 inputs and use the third input for the Dreamcast and if I really need for the other consoles.

I have multiple sources telling that D-Terminal use the same signal as component, so it shouldn't be a problem if both Wii and PS2 are configured to be plugged through component but since cables aren't exactly cheap (30 euros each) I'd like to be extra sure of what I'm buying...component-to-D4 adapters are neither easy nor cheap to find, D4 cables at least are easy to

Yes, D-Terminal carries analog Y/Pb/Pr (aka Component Video). The connector is the only real difference to the best of my knowledge.
