Playing PS2 games on PS3 with USB Controller?

I have just recently got some USB saturn controllers which I have been using to play PS3 titles
and loving it. I then thought, hold on I have SF3 here for PS2. However I can't get it to recognise the USB pad for PS2 titles. Is there a way?

Not sure if its possible with those usb saturn pads? My hori ps3 usb arcade stick wouldnt work on ps2 games until the firmware was updated. What firmware are you running? Install the latest up-to-date ps3 fimware and if its supported they'll work, if not your out of luck, unless you can find a ps2 saturn pad and hook it up to the ps3 via a ps2 to usb converter.

It's wierd that it doesn't work, since as far as the PS3 is concerned, any controller (including PS2 controllers connected over USB) is generic HID.

Haven't got a BC PS3 but I know the saturn pads work fine with PS1 games, have you tried setting the saturn pad as controller 1, you just need to hold down the PS button on your sixaxis pad whilst in game and go to controller settings then reassign the sixaxis to 2/2-A.
