New Hi-Fi up to ?500

I have to say my Cambridge Audio dacmagic is nice but some of their stuff may be a bit cheap and nasty. Reviews very well recently.
A brand I think will never be "bad" and could be stonking is marantz. I have never heard a bad bit of marantz kit.
Dunno as much about speakers unfortunately.
Best bit of kit you can buy is actually from Tesco though - a granite chopping board. Absolutely phenomenal for the price. I jest not made a thread "best value upgrades".

Decided to go with a denon dm 37 dab as it seems very highly regarded for the money, plus i sadly had to downgrade my budget to 300£ ish, maybe i can add some better speakers at a latter date. Would someone help me find a denon ipod dock for this model please? They exist, cant find one though, thanks if you can.

You can get these for about ?250 which would be a great starting point for a seperates system and if it is anything like the previous version the valve amp makes things sounds very nice

Still a bit pointless though isn't it? Going to all that effort to get decent sound and then running it on mp3 (unless your ipod is full of lossless).

Edit: just realised it has 2 other inputs for better sources.... must open eyes more often.

In this months what hifi they had a £1400 KRELL ipod dock coupled with £2700 electrostatic speakers. My friends instantly said whats the point, but I imagine with lossless running from the ipod, it could sound very, very good.

Have you bought it yet. I only ask i was considering it too but in comparisons to the similarly priced onkyo cs525 it gets beat from what i read

It doesnt have an optical input as well in case you need it.
