    Curse The Eye of Isis

I'm in the mood for something different but familiar. I've been playing Morrowind ESIII almost exclusively for over 2 months and I've still only explored about 50% of the main island. I need a break.

I was thinking survival horror and I just happened to come across a cheap copy of XBox Curse The Eye Of Isis in my local CEX. I'd never heard or read about it before but I did a bit of online research and it received generally OK-ish reviews. Most seemed to have marked it down simply because it was an obvious and otherwise unremarkable RE clone.

I wouldn't be averse to a bit of ancient Egyptian themed RE-ness so I was just wondering if anyone here has played it and what they thought about it?

Well, I've played for some time and must say that it's quite entertaining. Admittedly, it isn't all that serious and gore, some cutscenes really are stereotyped, but if you've read up on some reviews already, it shouldn't be a surprise that this game can be marked down as "cheesy" (think the Mummy et al). Camera views didn't really bother me, only in some narrow passages the view can be troublesome only by a small margin....

I did have a serious bug when

I'd arrived on the steam ship as I couldn't get the cutscene to start where the fat smuggler (?)shows up on the front of the ship (ran around the ship a zillion times and then suddenly it worked)

The game also gets a bit tougher starting from that point, I had to consult a guide to check where to go next and still am stuck there. Writing about it now makes me want to pick it up again...

Setting and time (but not gameplay!) are about the same as Call of the Cthulhu, so if you're on a roll, play both.

    Hope this helps a bit.

Strangely enough Call of Cthulhlu was what I was looking for when I came across this game. I've been slowly buying up all those marginal old XBox (and GC) titles when I find them really cheap but so far Call of Cthulhlu has been a bit elusive.

I was surprised how decent some of the reviews for Curse: The Eye Of Isis as I'd never heard of it before but both Gamespy.com (whose reviews I generally trust) and IGN were surprisingly positive.

However I always like to get feedback from 'real' gamers who've actually played such games before buying, so thanks for the reply.
