Is this a decent Laptop?

Hi PC Wally here.
This laptop is currently in the pc world sale for just under ?550,could one of you learned scholars cast a quick eye over the spec and let me know if it's worth getting?
Would I be able to play PC games at a decent resolution etc?

Looking at that, id say the graphics card was average - it doesnt support DirectX-10 fully, which if your playing games you might find annoying.

I should add that I'm not really interested in state of the art gaming performance for games cos I'm happy to play on my consoles,I would like to try some of the strategy games like total war etc.

You're going to struggle to find a laptop with a good graphics card for that price. But then you struggle to find one with a good card at any price. Seems a reasonable card by laptop standards. Should cope with the total war series. Don't expect crysis at anything other than minimum settings.

The 9500M is a more-than-capable card, it'll play Crysis and the like. Hell, I do that on my 8400m.

And it supports DX10 as good as any desktop, though you'd get better speeds using DX9 anyway.

Its well worth the money. I agree with Shakey. I have a Sony vaio with a 8400gt. All i changed was the processor from C2D 2.0ghz to a 2.5 ghz and upped the ram to 4gb. But even before i changed the CPU and ram, i still had the likes of Bio-Shock running easily, and left 4 dead flys.

I can play all the latest stuff on decent settings so that one should be fine
