Ps3 SF4 fightpad backwards compatible with Ps1/2 games?

Is this pad backwards compatible? I assumed it would be, however i just read that it wasnt? Anyone know for sure?

It works with PS1 games but not for PS2. The dongle doesn't even light up so I'm guessing that the USB ports may be deactivated when in PS2 mode.

Thanks mate, that is teh crap, maybe they 'forgot' some people do have full b/c ps3's maybe a future firmware update will sort that out? We can only hope!

To be honest it's almost like the PS3 gets switched off when you launch a PS2 game. No PSN support or anything.

I seem to remember reading a while back about fight sticks or guitars connected via USB that just wouldn't register when plugged in with a PS2 game.

I would have hoped that it would be resolved at some time as downloadable PS2 games are surely going to be a nice little earner for Sony when it happens. It's probably not a priority for them at the moment until they sotrt out the PS2 downloads though which is a shame really.

Off topic but it does work well with the recent Sega collection on PS3 which is one of the reasons I wanted it.
