    Graphics: Making background transparent...

I want to make the background of a bold logo tansparent, which I do by knocking it out the colour that sit in the background i.e black. However the object I want leaving in the document will still have the few pixels thick of gradient on its edges where it blended onto the background. Is there a trick to doing this better?

Hope someone knows what I'm on about

You can use alpha channels in PNG (proper transparency) but support for it is mixed. There's also some method of using transparency for cleaning up edges on cut and paste jobs but you'll have to search for that.

You should always make logos with no background to avoid this kind of blending issue.

It's something I'm extracting from an image I found on the web. I just want the edges clean so it can sit on any background colour.

Yeah, save for web as .png in photoshop - you can select what colour you want to alpha mask.

This is how you carry gradiated transparent rasters over into Flash also.
